Osteoarthritis (OA) Knee Suffers Should Limit Walking to 30 min at a Time

I’ve treated OA knee patients with various measures, steroids, lubricants and prolotherapy only to find they were excessively walking because they though it would be good for them. Now it’s been shown that limiting walking to 30 minutes at a time is better.

The influence of continuous versus interval walking exercise on knee joint loading and pain in patients with knee osteoarthritis.

  • 27 patients with unilateral  knee OA
  • did 45 minutes walking either all at once or 15 min X 3 separated by 1 hour each
  • the continuous one was bad news for the knee

their conclusion: “Walking exercise durations of 30 min or greater may lead to undesirable knee joint loading in patients with knee OA”

Comment – thank you – now some common sense. – doesn’t mean you can’t walk more one hour later – but not long hauls… maillots foot pas cher maillots foot pas cher
