In the scalp, when there are small spots of severe pain, they call it nummular headache areas – they are remarkably resistant to treatments (botox helps though). Similar painful areas the size of the palm were treated with a 2 hertz,0.5- 1.0 millisecond pulse width, with enough amplitude to elicit funny feeling paresthesia stimulator. Pain went from 6.7/10 to a 3.5/10After a 5 minute treatment.

DOES EXTERNAL PERIPHERAL NEUROMODULATION (EPN) WORK? A PILOT STUDY
N. G1, P. Buczkowski2, A. Searle2, R. Falerio2, J. Williams2, 1Anaesthesia & Pain Management,, Univ. Hosp. of Leicester NHS Trust, Leicester, United Kingdom, 2Anaesthesia & Pain Management,, Derby Hosp. NHS Fndn. Trust, Derby, United Kingdom
- Used neurostimulator MYMOP 2
- localized neuropathic pain, scar pain, post herpetic neuralgia, CRPS
- 5 min stim brought pain down from 6.7 to 3.5/10 p<0.001
To home make that sort of thing with a 555 timer chip though 2 hertz pulse width 4 millisec. might work but I haven’t tried it…
R1= 10 k
R2 = 0.1 k
C = 68 uF
If you knew what you were doing…(need step up transformer).
Addendum: – did come across a reasonably priced 2 hertz (and higher) pulse generator – (and can do vibration too)
Electro-Acupuncture Device GB1002
pointer plus is another device I use.
Comment – would be nice to try on some localized pains
Anyone had any experience?
