Migraine – How much Help From Herbals

The top 3 herbals I recommend for migraines include B2 400 mg/day, Coenzyme q10 >120 mg and magnesium.  Now a proprietary med has put in all 3 and got 30% less headache days.

Improvement of migraine symptoms with a proprietary supplement containing riboflavin, magnesium and Q10: a randomized, placebo-controlled, double-blind, multicenter trial.

Used:

  • B2 400 mg/day
  • Co-enzyme q10 150 mg
  • Magnesium 600 mg
  • multiple other nutrients

Results:

  • Reduced headaches days 6.2 to 4.4 (30% reduction)
  • minimal intensity changes
  • “No patient in the placebo group rated the efficacy as very good, whereas 18% of the patients treated with [active treatment] rated the efficacy as very good. Nearly half of the patients in the placebo group rated the efficacy as poor (43.9%) compared to only 29.1% in the active treatment group.”

Comments – would have hoped for more but did not directly deal with several triggers – diet, sleep, stress,  neck and TMJ
