Could Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Be Prevented by Supplements Used to Prevent Alcoholic Neuropathy?

B12, coenzyme Q10 and Vitamin E have amiolorative effects on Alcoholic Neuropathy – could they help prevent some brain damage brought on by drinking?

  • B12 – Painweek Sept 2013 – Brazilian poster on beneficial effects of B12 on alcoholic neuropathy
  • Coenzyme Q10 and Vitamin E –
    Elucidation of molecular mechanism involved in neuroprotective effect of Coenzyme Q10 in alcohol-induced neuropathic pain.
    Kandhare, Amit D; Ghosh, Pinaki; Ghule, Arvindkumar E; Bodhankar, Subhash L;
    Fundamental & clinical pharmacology27.6 (December 2013): 603-62″The important finding of the study is that, Coenzyme Q10 (100 mg/kg) and α-tocopherol (100 mg/kg) combination-treated rats showed more significant prevention of behavioral, biochemical, and molecular neurotoxic effect of alcohol administration”

Should these agents be given to alcoholic pregnant cases or should these supplements be given free to women at the liquor store?

I got nothing. I see some FAS kids – might be strong otherwise,  but maybe can’t remember two instructions if given to them – makes them more likely unemployable.. what a life.

Exciting is the finding that
” As little as 20 minutes of moderate exercise three times per week during pregnancy enhances a newborn child’s brain development”

I’m open to serious suggestions…
