Shingles Vaccine Finally Available in Regina

Zostavax vaccine has to be held frozen at -15 degrees C and only set in batches of 5. Now, Lakeshore Drugs (584-0717) has gotten in a Fridge specially set and so it is available there. Catch is, it cannot be held at room temperature for more than 30 minutes so have to keep cool when taken to doctor

There is question over whether the vaccine is cost effective but for someone already in chronic pain, shingles can mean the beginning of the end. The vaccine is mixed with a diluent and injected subcutaneously. It does not prevent all cases of shingles but can reduce the severity as well. It is recommended in over 50 particularly if you have immune issues (diabetes, cancer, and so on).

I’m getting one so that expresses my opinion…

I live in Imperial.Sk. and would like to know how I would go about getting the shingles vaccine. Could it be sent to my Dr. in Imperial or where would I go in Regina to receive the vaccination.

It has to be kept in a frig at a certain temperature – then transported to Dr. Office on Ice. Several pharmacies can get it in; just get your Dr. to write a script for Zovirax. If you cannot get local pharmacy to handle – could get it in some pharmacies in the city and then get a nearby medicenter/Dr. Office to administer while it is still on ice.
