Tremor In Inflammatory Neuropathy

Non-diabetic painful numbness in hands/feet is often caused by inflammatory neuropathy. Tremor is common in these disorders and does not respond to usual treatments

Three inflammatory neuropathies:
-Chronic Inflammatory Dimylenating Polyneuropathy (CIDP) – 58%
– IgM paraproteinaemic neuropathy (IgMPN) – common
-[Multifocal Motor Neuropathy with conduction block] – 56% –

all were being given regular immunoglobulin infusions

medications for tremors did not work; 5 found benefit from immunoglobulin infusions

mean frequency was 6 hertz

10/27 cases precipitating event evident
