A Saskatchewan Study found people with previous MVA had twice the rate of persistent neck problems. Insurers like to play down this association but in fact this is real.

The association between a lifetime history of a neck injury in a motor vehicle
collision and future neck pain: a population-based cohort study.
Nolet PS, Côté P, Cassidy JD, Carroll LJ. abstract here
- subjects with little or no neck pain were cataloged by whether the had “ever injured their neck in a motor vehicle collision”. 676 cases were followed
- Their conclusion – “The consequences of a neck injury in a motor vehicle collision can have long lasting effects and predispose individuals to experience recurrent episodes of neck pain.” adjusted H Relative Risk 2.14 times likely.
Comment – was unable to find article but obviously this counters David Cassidy’s controversial NEJM article years ago where he asserted people actually got better with no fault. – Turns out they were just sick of doctors and claims adjusters after several months and gave up.
any comments?
